Laura Ester to receive European MVP Award during Barcelona 2018 draw ceremony

Laura Ester, who was recently named Best European Player of 2017, will receive her award given by the European Swimming League (LEN) during the draw ceremony of the 33rd LEN European Water Polo Championships Barcelona 2018, which will be held on March 7 at the RTVE-Catalunya Studios in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona).

“I am thrilled. Receiving this award is a dream come true, and receiving it during the draw ceremony will make it even more special”, Ester declared. The Spanish goalkeeper claimed a silver medal at the World Aquatics Championships and finished third in the Final Four.

The Astrapool CN Sabadell player will be one of the main stars of the ceremony, which will broadcast live at 12pm on Teledeporte. In addition to Ester, other members of both Spanish national teams are expected to attend, as well as the managers Miki Oca and David Martín.

The final list of countries that will compete in Barcelona 2018 will be unveiled on March 3, after the second leg of the final qualifier. So far, the first classified teams from the latest European Championships have qualified for Barcelona 2018. In the men’s category: Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, Greece, Italy, Russia and Spain. In the women’s: Hungary, the Netherlands, Russia, Greece, Italy and Spain.
